After an 18-hour flight we finally land, ready to explore the fascinating world of Japan. One last flight, the one towards

Memanbetsu on the island of Hokkaido, the northernmost of the four main islands of the Japanese archipelago and the least developed. The word “Hokkaidō” literally means “way to the northern sea”; the island is characterised by wild nature and very cold winters.
